Columbia Hts. mayor cited for alleged DWI.(NEWS)

1/3 Columbia Heights Mayor Gary Peterson was cited for allegedly driving drunk late Saturday after police in his city said he failed a sobriety test following a minor traffic accident.
Peterson, 61, was arrested after police gave him several tests in a grocery store parking lot to determine whether he had been drinking. They were responding to a two-car accident on 45th Av. NE. and Central Av. after Peterson's vehicle hit another driven by Howard C. Fredlund, 28, of Center City, Minn. No injuries were reported.
Peterson was taken into custody, and his blood-alcohol content was recorded at .17, over the legal limit of .10, police said. He was cited and later released to a relative.
Peterson, who was elected mayor in 1998, declined to comment Sunday night on his arrest
