Arlington Hts. Park District busy with 75th-year events.(News)

Residents have a lot to look forward to this summer as the Arlington Heights Park District celebrates its 75th anniversary.
Although limited by budget constraints, the park district is aiming for an eventful summer.
"We don't have a big budget and we aren't spending a lot of money, but we are doing as many community events as we can," said Nancy Chamberlain, district communications supervisor.
All of the anniversary events have community focus.
Kicking off the summer celebrations, the park district will host a community "jam session" with the Scarsdale Garage Band from 12 to 1:30 p.m. June 9 at North School Park. Hot dogs, chips and soda can be purchased for just $2 at the park at Arlington Heights Road and Northwest Highway.
Area residents can celebrate the anniversary with cake and music at 7 p.m. July 9 also at North School Park with the Banjo Buddies Dixieland Band. The evening's music in the park is just one in the regular summer series.
The centerpiece of the anniversary is the photo collage that can be seen on promotional posters and the cover of Leisure Times, the district's publication of news and events.
"We are looking for people to recognize the pictures so we can have updates on people in them," Chamberlain said. "So far, I've had two photos identified."
Chamberlain said she is hoping someone will identify the family in a 1958 photo in the collage.
"I really want to know who they are," she said.
The district marked its 60th and 70th years with similar events.
"For the 60th we rolled back prices at the pools to 10 cents - what they were in 1938 when the Rec Park pool opened," Chamberlain said.
This years prices are even better, with the added bonus of games and prizes.
"We are just making pool entrance free on June 10," she said.
